Charging Port Repair in Puncak Alam & Shah Alam

Cable that only works at one angle, a phone that charges intermittently, or one that has stopped charging entirely — the port is often the culprit, and it is frequently a cheap fix.

Before you pay for anything: check for lint

A surprising share of “dead” charging ports are simply packed with pocket lint compressed into a solid disc at the bottom of the connector. The cable then cannot seat fully, which is exactly why it works at an angle or only with firm pressure. A technician can clear this in minutes with a plastic pick and compressed air, and many shops charge little or nothing for it. Always ask for this check first before agreeing to a port replacement.

Do not go digging with a metal pin or a paperclip yourself. The contacts inside a USB-C or Lightning port are delicate and bending one turns a two-minute clean into a soldering job.

When the port really does need replacing

Genuine port failure usually comes from mechanical wear, from a fall while plugged in, or from corrosion after moisture exposure. The symptoms are a loose, wobbly connector, visible damage or discolouration inside, charging that stops when the cable is nudged, or no charging at all with multiple known-good cables and chargers.

On many Android phones the charging port sits on a small daughterboard, which makes replacement fast and inexpensive. On most iPhones and some premium Androids the port is soldered directly to the mainboard, so replacing it requires microsoldering — a considerably more skilled job that only some shops do in-house. Which category your phone falls into is the main reason quotes differ so widely.

Rule out the simple causes first

Try a different cable and a different charger, ideally ones you know work with another device. Cables fail internally far more often than ports do, and a frayed or generic cable is the single most common cause of intermittent charging. Try a different wall socket. If the phone charges wirelessly but not by cable, that points firmly at the port or its cable; if it will not charge either way, the fault may be the battery or the charging circuit on the board instead.

How to read these listings. PhonePuncakAlam is an independent directory. We publish only the details we could confirm from a shop’s own website, its official social page, or a mapping service — if a field is missing, it means we could not verify it, not that the shop lacks it. We are not an agent for any shop and we do not take a cut of any repair. Prices, turnaround times, parts grade and warranty terms are set by each shop, so please confirm them directly before you hand over your device.

Charging Port Repair — common questions

Why does my phone only charge when I hold the cable at an angle?

Almost always either a worn cable or lint compacted in the port preventing the connector from seating. Try a known-good cable first; if that does not fix it, ask a shop to clean the port before agreeing to any replacement.

How long does a charging port repair take?

A cleaning is minutes. A daughterboard port swap on many Android phones is often same-day. A board-soldered port, as on most iPhones, is a microsoldering job and takes longer — ask whether it is done in-house.

Can I clean the charging port myself?

Carefully, with the phone powered off and a wooden or plastic toothpick, working gently to lift the lint out rather than pushing it deeper. Never use a metal pin, and never spray liquid into the port. If it does not come out easily, let a shop do it.

My phone charges wirelessly but not with a cable. What does that mean?

That strongly suggests the fault is in the port or its connection to the board rather than the battery or charging circuit, since the wireless path bypasses the port entirely. It is useful information to give the technician.
