Lithium-ion cells degrade by chemistry, not by fault. Every full charge cycle costs a little capacity, and after roughly two years of daily use most phones have lost enough that the symptoms become obvious. The clearest signs are sudden shutdowns at a charge level well above zero, a percentage that drops in jumps rather than smoothly, noticeable heat during ordinary use, and the phone becoming unusable away from a charger.
On an iPhone, Settings › Battery › Battery Health gives you a maximum capacity figure; below about 80% Apple itself considers the battery consumed. Android brands vary in what they expose, but most repair shops can read the true cycle count and capacity with a diagnostic tool in a couple of minutes.
A swollen battery is different and more urgent. If the screen is lifting from the frame, the back panel is bulging, or the phone no longer sits flat on a table, stop charging it and get it replaced. A swollen cell is a puncture risk and a fire risk, and it will eventually crack the screen from underneath.
The technician opens the device, disconnects the old cell, removes the adhesive strips holding it, seats the new battery and reseals. On phones with water-resistance ratings the seal should be replaced too — ask whether it is included, because a resealed phone without new adhesive is no longer water resistant.
Battery quality varies as much as screen quality. A cheap cell may report full health initially and then fall away sharply within months, and low-quality cells are the ones that swell. Ask what brand of cell is being fitted and what the warranty period is; a shop confident in its parts will give you a straight answer.
Heat is what kills lithium cells fastest, so avoid charging under a pillow, in a hot car, or while gaming with a thick case on. Keeping the charge roughly between 20% and 80% for daily use meaningfully extends cycle life, and most modern phones have an optimised or adaptive charging setting that does this automatically overnight. Occasional full charges are fine; living permanently at 100% and 40°C is not.

How to read these listings. PhonePuncakAlam is an independent directory. We publish only the details we could confirm from a shop’s own website, its official social page, or a mapping service — if a field is missing, it means we could not verify it, not that the shop lacks it. We are not an agent for any shop and we do not take a cut of any repair. Prices, turnaround times, parts grade and warranty terms are set by each shop, so please confirm them directly before you hand over your device.

Usually a same-visit job of well under an hour when the cell is in stock. Devices with heavy adhesive or a glued back panel take a little longer.
Below about 80% maximum capacity you will notice the difference in daily use, and that is the conventional replacement threshold. If you are getting unexpected shutdowns, replace it regardless of what the percentage says — the reported figure is an estimate, not a measurement.
Yes. Stop charging it, avoid pressing on the back or screen, and take it in promptly. A swollen cell can rupture, and the pressure alone will eventually crack the display. Do not attempt to puncture or force it out yourself.
Sometimes. Phones throttle performance to avoid shutdowns when the battery can no longer deliver peak current, so a worn cell genuinely does make a phone feel slow. If your device also has full storage or an ageing processor, a battery alone will not fix everything — but it is the cheapest thing to try first.
