Most phone repair is component replacement: take the broken module out, put a working module in. Board-level repair is different. The technician works under a microscope with hot air and fine-tipped irons on components a millimetre across, diagnosing which one on a densely populated logic board has failed and replacing it individually. It requires schematics, measurement equipment, and a great deal of practice — which is why it is available at only a minority of shops, and why Shah Alam is where you go for it in this region.
Ask whether the work is done in-house or sent to a third party. Both happen, and neither is wrong, but it changes the timeline and who is accountable if something goes wrong. Ask for a diagnostic first with a fee quoted separately, and ask what happens to that fee if the board turns out to be unrecoverable.
Ask about data. On many devices, a board repair carried out successfully preserves your data, but some faults require replacing components that are cryptographically paired to the device, and in the worst cases the data cannot be recovered. If there is something on the phone you cannot lose, say so at the very start — it changes the approach.
Finally, be realistic about economics. Board repair is skilled labour and priced accordingly. On an older mid-range phone the repair can approach the used value of the device, and a good technician will tell you that rather than take the job. On a recent flagship, or where the data matters, it is very often worth it.

How to read these listings. PhonePuncakAlam is an independent directory. We publish only the details we could confirm from a shop’s own website, its official social page, or a mapping service — if a field is missing, it means we could not verify it, not that the shop lacks it. We are not an agent for any shop and we do not take a cut of any repair. Prices, turnaround times, parts grade and warranty terms are set by each shop, so please confirm them directly before you hand over your device.

Either, and a shop will check the cheap possibility first. A completely dead battery, a failed charging port, or a power-button fault all present the same way. Board-level diagnosis comes after those are ruled out.
Often yes, if the storage itself is intact and the fault is elsewhere on the board. Tell the shop from the outset that data is the priority, because it changes how the board is approached and what risks are acceptable.
Longer than component swaps — diagnosis alone can take a day, and the work itself is meticulous. Ask for an estimate up front and expect it to be a range rather than a fixed time.
Weigh the quote against what the same model sells for used. If the repair approaches the replacement cost and the device is several years old, replacement is usually the better decision — unless irreplaceable data is on it.
